Regarding the electronics being fed from one of the ESC's BEC -
I'm on the way of making things very reliable.
I thought of feeding the tronics with regulated 5v, coming from a stand alone circuitry, 5v regulator off the battery.
that way im not dependent on a random ESC if it decides to blow...
of course it will be well regulated and decoupled.
what do you think of it ?

@John L.
Yea sure,
i believe it's still under 1A.
though after a few minutes running, i could feel the GPS dome is getting warm !
that might eat the most of the power.
i dont believe small sensor eat alot.
the sonar is rated at 3mA usually !
and the decision is made - going on UBEC

@AR: which version of APM do you have? 1.0 or 1.4?
1.0 has an independent voltage regulator on it, 1.4 doesn't
I've been using the Castle BED on my arduquad and just connected it to the PDB. No problems so far and I feel better not relying on an ESC.
