Hi Everyone,
First time posting here at DIY Drones...well I just purchased a Bormatec Maja and wanted to allow it to take-off and land on prepared and rough air strips. And I was wondering if anyone has experience in landing gear setup on the Maja that I could get some advice from. I ordered the gear package from Bormatec and was surprised by the lack of instructions included. Mainly, I was wondering how to insert and setup a steerable nose wheel with its servo coordinating with the rudder (the main gear is self explanatory). Also, I was wondering if anyone has replaced the foam wheels with rubber ones to improve performance. I'd really appreciate any help and assistance anyone could send my way.
Cheers!

@Craig,
I had a Maja once and did install the landing gear package, but it came with rubber balloon wheels and not foam.
To install the nose wheel assembly, I picked a convenient angle that I could drill with my drill press and installed a lateral plate at that angle, that I could mount the steering rod bearing assembly on, across the channel in the nose of the plane.
I used a "Y" cable to drive the steering servo off of the rubber servo.
I found the Maja to be one of the worst planes I have ever built and would not recommend one to anyone I know. I have found the RMRC Anaconda to be far superior and spare parts are available here in the USA.

Hi TCIII,
Thanks for the reply! You wouldn't happen to have any photos of your Maja nose wheel setup that you could pass on would you? I think I'm following your explanation but it would make things a bit more clear with some pictures. Appreciate your suggestion on the Anaconda, too.
Thanks again,
- Craig
@Craig,
Sorry, no pictures of that Maja. I gave the Maja to my local AMA flying club and I do not know what they have done with it.
You might try reviewing the Maja thread on RC Groups.

Will do...thanks!
