Hi there ,
Does anyone has a good experience in stereo vision cameras, as i need to mount a stereo cameras on my drone:
http://ardrone.parrot.com/parrot-ar-drone/usa/
and then deploying some computer vision stuff, i want this stereo vision with the following specs:
1- resolution: 800*600 OR 752x480
2- Baseline: 4-6 cm
3- frame rate: up to 60 frames per second.
4- Of course I need em to be of small size coz they'll be mounted over the drone
so any recommendation about companies that provide these solution , i will be grateful

Did you have a look at the GoPro HD camera? Soo light if you remove the waterproof casing (and even the plastic case of the camera). I think that's what I'll use in my UAV from now on. For 3D, you could use 2 of them, but I think I'd rather use 2 frames taken from the same camera.
Try this company. Their ad is posted in this web site.

Best of luck.

Hello,
Generally speaking the stereo effect is affected by the lens separation and the distance of the subject matter. If you plan to shoot stereographic landscapes the lenses need to be pretty far away from each other. In an UAV why not mount the cameras into the tip of the wings.
Your stereo image will be a dissapointment if the cameras/lenses are too close to each other. Such stereo systems work only for "normal" subject where you have depth otherwise where things are happening at reachable distances. I would imagine that ready made stereo cameras would be pretty much worthless for aerial photography.
I did stereo photography in the 90's when nobody cared. Also I'm not that sure if stereo flying will add anything to your experience but of course worth trying.
My 2 cents

Ramdan,
Attached you will find a data sheet for MT9V032 that you currently use on a (PIX Hawk) Gumstix board. If you look at , I believe page 11 it will go into details on creating a steareo setup I believe at up to the speeds you are after. If I remember right it also uses a Global shutter so you will not have any smearing on the images. I just joined the group and was interested in some way of controlling a stereo imaging setup remotely, with a fairly cheap CMOS camera. I had found a CMOS camera to do that part and am currently trying to get more information on the PIXHAWK board to try to play with. It seems that Gumstix has not put the board on the site to start playing with. Can any one give me some locations to start getting info on this adaption to the Gumstix.

I am starting to use stereo vision cameras.
I bought XBOX kinetic sensor as a stereo camera
Hi Eng,
You may want to start by looking here I have no experience using them, and there are not may options on the market at the moment, I m sure in a years time this 3D camera will be out dated and there will be a host of options on the market.
