Storm32 RC inputs via APM or Rx

I upgraded both my 2-axis and 3-axis gimbals to STorm32 v1.31 boards and they're working great, but after poring over the STorm32 documentation I'm wondering if I'm missing something with regard to connecting to the APM 2.6 FCs -- the docs make reference to receiving accelerometer data from the APM but the explanation doesn't go into detail.

Is there any real advantage to connecting the RC inputs of the STorm32 to the APM and allowing the APM to perform stabilization on those channels?  At present I'm only using pitch control and that is connected directly to the Rx -- I'm relying on the Storm32 to handle all of the stabilization.

Thanks!

I think Storm32 support is in Copter 3.3+ builds not APM2.x HW builds is 3.2.x
    • Ah, that makes sense, thanks.  Time to start saving for a Pixhawk.
