Strange radio behavure

I have a strange problem

 

I have seperate 5v supply connected to the RX. RX and apm are connected via a gound wire and the signal lines. This works fine when I am at home. But when I am at the location where i fly i cant configure it. Its like APM is not getting any signal. I connected one of the ESC to the RX and that works fine.

Has any one ever seen this? Any suggestions??

    I don't understand the connection. You're just connecting signal and ground from Rx to APM? What about v+?

     

    If you are connecting both GND and v+, it sounds like your power source does not supply sufficient current, which is why the ESC works but your seperate 5V supply does not.
