Hello DIYdrones community!

I’ve been playing around with an idea of electrifying some octocopters I’ve been designing/building with my 4-year-old son, however I seem to have found myself in the dead end when it comes to motors.

In order to [more or less] maintain the design of the craft in rotor sector, I’m looking for a very low profile motor (height wise). The size of motor/scale of craft doesn’t really matter, as I could re-print the octocopter in virtually any size. I have access to a variety of tools such as CNC (in case I really do have to modify the motor bell housing/motor mounts) - but before I get to that I'd like to see if there were any alternatives out there.

I haven't had any luck finding such low profile motors, and am beginning to think that I might actually need to integrate the blades right into the bell housing... Would any of you be able to recommend such a motor/point me in the right direction for further research?

More info on the said octocopters can be found here:
