So, I am trying to set up my HK600GT with APM 2.5 and I am unable to change the bottom number in the swash travel; every time I enter a number manually, it automatically changes to a value of 1099, which causes my swash to bind...I can change the top number no problem...any suggestions? I can not go any further until I get this figured out.

Yeah, I've seen this as well, when trying to manually write values for the swash in the heli setup screen, they automatically get over-written. Frustrating, and I don't understand it. I do as Ryan says, which is to force them in in the Advanced Params page. Also as he suggests, the change will not be "effective" until your reset the swash. Basically what's happening here is there is some scaling calculations that go on. They only get calculated once, instead of constantly, to save processor cycles. There are 3 ways you can reset the swash calc: Reboot. In the Advanced Params page, you can change H_SwashManual (IIRC that's what it's called) from 0 to 1, write it, then change it back to 0, then write it. It's best to depower your servos when you do this, as they can jam. At the least, you'll want to put the collective stick in the middle, not the bottom or top. The third way to do this, is in the Heli setup page, you'll see a "swash reset" button. Use that. It does the exact same thing as #2, just automatically.
Jim, I'm trying to understand your issue with the RSC. I think you'll have to use RSC Mode 2. What you want is Mode 1, but IIRC, Mode 1 doesn't work in that release. So this will mean you only have a single speed setting.
when I've been tuning my apm I've had to change collective settings in the advanced settings menu (I assume we're talking about Collective Min setting), and after changing them and writing them to the APM make sure to reboot as i think it does some collective stuff on boot that relates to these (there's also a setting you can change to do the reinit but i can't remember it off the top of my head)
