It sure seems like the UAV industry, small and large, focuses on electronic and system technology. Maybe that is because the people working on these have expertise in that field. The larger UAV's sometimes pay some attention to vehicle aerodynamics. But both industries totally forget about efficient power and efficient propulsion. Why? Many, if not most of the small UAV's ignore aerodynamics and propulsion. If you want range, noise reduction, stable flight, slow and fast, you need to change what you are doing in these areas. As a prop technology guy here, just a look at these makes me squirm.
Are all these things so low buck, that you can't afford to spend the money to make the vehicle work well? So you fiddle with what you know?

Well I was hoping for a reason why you do it the way I see. The post was just about my observations. You didn't give me any answers to my questions. So lets look at the picture you post with your reply. Your wing tips are high drag. The prop is operating in blocked and disturbed air. Part of the prop is pushing you backwards, relative to the rest of the prop. With better pictures, and some data, I could tell you more. What are you doing with the UAV's you are building?
