Looking at the Arducopter 3DR Quad, question on the telemetry option. 900mhz or 2.4ghz? Same price, which would be better?

If you are in the US then 900mhz is the best (2.4ghz is for places where 900mhz is not allowed, 2.4ghz is shorter range)
