The FAA trying to ban Drones?

When i was reading the newly imposed regulations i found this

http://www.regulations.gov/#%21documentDetail;D=FAA-2014-0396-0001 For purposes of the visual line of sight requirement, “operator” means the person manipulating the model aircraft's controls."

The way i see it you can not use mission planner in order to run auto missions. Also the ban of FPV goggles.

"The FAA is aware that at least one community-based organization permits “first person view” (FPV) operations during which the hobbyist controls the aircraft while wearing goggles that display images transmitted from a camera mounted in the front of the model aircraft. While the intent of FPV is to provide a simulation of what a pilot would see from the flight deck of a manned aircraft, the goggles may obstruct an operator's vision, thereby preventing the operator from keeping the model aircraft within his or her visual line of sight at all times."

Which they contradict with.

"Viewing a field to determine whether crops need water when they are grown for personal enjoyment."

So are they saying you can look at your crops but you cant use FPV? And another thing.

"Therefore, it specifically stated that “[n]othing in this section shall be construed to limit the authority of the Administrator to pursue enforcement action against persons operating model aircraft who endanger the safety of the national airspace system.”

Did they just say a police officer can fine you by saying you endangered someone?

Basically they are killing our hobby of ariel fpv and Auto missons.

  • It wasn't meant to contradict. They mean viewing crops after the flight with images captured during the flight.
They didn't say a police officer can fine you, they are local law enforcement. They are saying that the FAA can fine you for flying your model in a manner that endangers the NAS. An example of this would be to fly up close to a low flying aircraft for a better look.

I totally disagree with the FAA's interpretation of the 2012 Reauthorization Bill regarding model aircraft. You don't seem to be correctly interpreting their interpretation.
