I am looking at putting together a drone for topographic surveys, and before I buy everything I want to know if I'm heading down the right path, what mistakes I may be making, etc. This is my first build, so I'm know I'm going to make a few errors.
Requirements:
- 4 miles of linear travel distance. Up to 4500 feet MSL.
- 1.5kg of payload.
- Reliable, rugged, or easy to field fix.
- Autonomous, pre-planned flight paths.
- Shutter control at an even spacing or time interval.
The setup:
- DJI S900
- Pixhawk Controller
- 16000 mah power supply (1.8kg)
- Nikon FX DSLR with a fixed 28mm lens. (960g)
- Fixed down-facing camera mount.
Not sure about which GPS to use. I would like to be able to record raw data for post-processing later. I don't know how it would work to geotag photos with post-processed data. For the time being, I can just use ground targets.
