Unable to gain access to bootloader

I bought an APM 2.6 and it came with the arducopter firmware, I followed all instructions and every time I try to update firmware it shows a msg saying: " Unable to gain access to boot loader ".

I've tried it on a Mac, linux and windows 7 and always with the same result.

The APM turns on, get GPS fix, it works as it should but the firmware cannot be changed nor updated.

Can anyone help me with this issue?

Thank you in advance.

  • The way I fixed my problem was spending about $ 300.00 to get it all new and from 3DR. Now it all works I'm pretty sure my other ardupilot was a cheapo knock off.

    @Jay,

    Is it a genuine 3DR AMP2.6 or a clone?

    What GCS are you using to communicate with the APM: Mission Planner, AMP Planner 2.0, etc?

    • Tried the mission planner and ended up having the same problem, but instead of saying "unable to get access to the boot loader, it freezes up looking for the board version.

      any help will be appreciated.

      Thank you!

    • Hi thomas!

      I believe it's a clone, but it does say 3DR on it, and I bought it as genuine, used but in perfect conditions. And it does work. It just doesn't load the firmware.

      APM planner 2.0.10.

      Thank you, for your time and help.
