Is anybody working on a kit or a "hack" that would allow a Android tablets or a smart phones native
3G, 4G or LTE radio interface technology to control the Parrot AR Drone 2.0 flight and HD camera
capabilities; thereby supplementing or replacing the Parrots current WiFi radio interface technology.

I presume that a 3G, 4G or LTE radio interface technology would have to be retrofitted into
the Parrots motherboard. Or, perhaps, a device on board the Parrot 2.0 could translate the
3G, 4G or LTE radio interface signal into the Android tablet native WiFi radio interface signal.

  • at this moment, were you able to complete adding 3G on you ar drone?

  • Hello, guys. I was searching for this solution and found the following:

http://www.ardrone-flyers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40 - describes how useless this idea is

http://www.cs.stevens.edu/~spock/skynet/ - finally the possiblity to realise it.

Wanted to start this project, but there is no 4g in my country. Our 3g is too slow for these purposes.

  • I've got the same idea with you.Do you know someone else try to hack 3G control on ardrone. Please tell me if possible. Many problems present,I need some fellows.Thank you

  • THANKS MUNROE: Can I assume that a Wifi or 3G "hack" for the Parrot AR.Drone 2.0
is more likely to be available on the Android SAMSUNG tablet than the Apple iPad 2
or New Apple iPad (3) platform? .... Android SAMSUNG seems to be the more "open"
    of the two platforms.

  • Thanks Monroe,  I will start searching.

Do you recall if the "reference" was a single posting, or, a full-fledged, on-going User Group?

I am looking for off-the-shelf solutions that are plug-and-play.....more or less.
