Variable pitch quad tuning

I am working on a variable pitch quad design and I am running into some trouble tuning it. I have worked on the PIDs and got it to the point where it does not oscillate so that I can fly it. Here is a video of a test flight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrD4gScApQk&feature=youtu.b. I am flying in stabilize mode and the problem I have is that it wants to roll left all the time. I have to hold at least half stick to the right and sometimes full stick right just to keep it level. Other than the compensation I am giving it flies fairly smooth. You can see in the video at about 35 seconds it takes a quick dive to the left. This is when I tried to release the right compensation and see if it would stabilize on its own. It did not stabilize on its own and I quickly added the manual compensation back in. Any idea why it would want to roll so hard while in stabililize mode? Is there something else I need to tune or setup to correct this tendency?

  • Sorry if this thread is a little old. But did you ever fix the left roll tendency? I'm working on a senior design project where we are designing a single engine hexacopter with variable pitch propellers. Would love to hear any advice.
