Vertical acceleration too fast 3dr quad help!

Hi,

I'm coming from an AR Drone 2.0 and wanted to step up so I got the 3DR RTF Quad so that I can play around with Ardupilot.

Few observations when I fly the drone :

1) The vertical acceleration is too fast. It's kind of hard to control and there seems to be a slight lag from when I press the control to the action being executed. As a result, I'm kind of "bouncing" on the ground with the drone and up again as I try to control it. I can't seem to find a point on the throttle where I am able to hover the drone. Every little movement I make on the throttle seems to affect the drone a lot.

What can I do to mitigate this?

2) The parts are quite fragile... I've only flown it twice and I've busted two legs and one prop. But it could be my bad flying. Any safety precaution I can take to prevent the parts from breaking?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

  • For (1) I guess what I'm saying is that there doesn't seem to be a mid point where I can hover easily on the throttle. I keep searching for it but the end result is the copter flies up and down.
