has anyone gotten this to work? Can I send video from my raspberry pi over the rfd900 serial link?

You are really innocent man, band width is the main constraint on RFD900 radios. Even for transmitting an analog color video you require at least 5.5Mhz band width. Whereas RFD900 has maximum 250kbps.

However it is possible to send photos over the limited band width using special encoders which can encode the photo to serial and later convert serial UART data to photo at receiving end.
