Hi all :)
I have been lurking and doing my best to learn but now I think its time to ask some questions.
I am trying to find a radio solution that will provide remote access to controlling my robot (be it a ground rover, quad copter, or a boat) via long range from my computer. It appears to me so far that everyone uses a handheld joystick device, am I just being dense or am I not finding the right posts where things can be controlled from a computer? So far the radio solutions I have found basically are as follows:
Xbee/Xbee PRO
DNT900 with the Dreamshield 16 project
and most recently this KS project
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/443556734/radius-wireless-easy-and-arduino-compatible
The range I am looking for is max 5 miles, I am pretty sure if budget was not an issue there are much longer range solution, I will get to those in the future but for now I am just looking at 5 miles max.
As far as video is concerned it seems I have found lots of POV systems that will transmit and I just receive the video and display it however way i feel like, on the pc, a monitor, or a set of googles, am I correct?
Any help would be appreciated as I am getting close to deciding on some hardware and getting things rolling. Thank you for reading my post, I am trully trying to learn and will share my projects along the way. I live in Houston, TX and anywhere within a 2 state range I am willing to travel to look or learn from anyone's projects.
Humbly,
Roo

Hi. Would you be interested in using DNT900 for this purpose. I'm designing interface boards for my own DNT900 modules, and would be happy to make some more if anyone else is interested :) Let me know. DNT900 is a very nice radio promising a long range!
