Hello,
I'm getting a little bit confused about Arducopter software versions.
According to the wiki one should download code using the mission planner.
As of today (v.1.1.19) the software that it uploads is called '2.1.0 Alpha'
However, when I go to the download pages on the wiki, there is no '2.1.0 Alpha'. There is 2.1.zip 'release', various 2.1.1.rx 'alpha-only for testers' and nine 2_0_xx 'Beta' vesions. Then there are some versions not marked as beta, alpha or released and lastly one with an 'Alt-hold-patch'.
In the forums there is a big topic about version 2.1 release in which a version 2.1 'plus AF02 mod' is linked to. Also there seem to be varying results regarding loiter performance an as s i'm also currently struggling to get a decent loiter I would like to make sure I'm using the right software before I'm going to experiment further.. (btw i'm using APM 1.0 + atMega 2560)
So i have some questions:
Is the '2.1.0 Alpha' that is uploaded by Mission planner the 'right' software?
- Is this in fact the same as what's in 2.1 'release', and if so, why is it called 'alfa'
- Are the 'AF02 mod' and 'Alt_hold_patch' part of '2.1 alpha' or are these separate developments that are being developed as part of 2.1.1rx?
Any clarification will be appreciated
Gerrit Jan.

Mission planner always present the 'right' version to use, the one that was selected to be (at the moment) the most stable and considered "Release".
the repository shows all latest version as well as newest (considered beta/alpha or mods)
the forums is where people get together to tweak, modify and improve (or not) the code as it is open source.
So if you are looking to fly without tweaking (except PID and basic config) use Mission planner to upload firmware.
Hope that helps you
