What type of switch...

I was watching video on the wiring of an APM, 2.6, and the narrator showed the connections pins 1 through 4 on the APM went to the receiver for; aileron, elevator, throttle, rudder and the 5thconnection, (pin 5) he called, “Auxiliary 1 Channel” that went to a 3 position switch connected to the receiver? So what is this switch, and is it needed to fly a Quad copter?

  • Channel 5 is used to select in which flight mode you fly.

    It is needed yes.

    • "Is there a specific name for this switch, so I'll know which one too order?"

      Thanks...

      • The transmitter has several 2 way and 3 way switches on it. You can use either.

You can even program both the 2 and 3 way together (using mixing) to achieve 6 flight mode using two switches on one channel. any two or three way switch on the transmitter can be used, it's assigned on the the transmitter.

All depends on what transmitter you are going to use.

        • Hello Johann,

The video I watched, the APM had a module receiver cabled to it, and cabled to the receiver was a smaller module that the narrator of the video call a 3 way switch? I've included the link to video if you care to see it? Thanks again for the assistance...

          • The smaller module he taps is the spektrum satellite receiver.

The 3 position switch will be already part of your radio transmitter, the channel it is assigned to is down to your transmitter but should be connected to input 5 on the apm from your radio receiver.

            • Okay thanks...
