Which part of APM should be in the CoG?

Hi guys,

I am designing my own Y6-Copter to be used with Arducopter-Hardware at some point (e.g when the Arducopter supports Y6..)

Now I am planning the build-up of the hardwaretower. THis should carry APM+Oilpan+Magneto in one shelf and the GPS goes one level higher for unobstructed view.

Now i know the Hardware should be in the Centre of Gravity (CoG), but where exactly on the APM+Oilpan should the CoG be? Don't want to have as big tower mountings as the Arducopter, so it does't work for me to just push around the APM on the tower.

Regards

Daniel

  • Great, thanks for the answer Chris.
Yes, I know it doesn't have to be exactly there and you can set offsets.
But i thought, if i am designing my own frame, I just as well could try to get it in the CoG, just to max out the positive effects.

It doesn't have to be exactly at the CoG. It's just that vibrations tend to be least there. Good mounting foam can do just as well. But if you want to be precise, but the XY gyro at the CoG.
