I've had some problems trying to connect APM to the groundstation with the telemetry kit, so I'm trying to test the connection using X-CTU and two XBee explorer USBs.

When sending data from COM13 xbee to COM8 xbee I seem to consistently lose the first two or three bytes.  I tried a number of different baud rates and other settings.  The connection is fine in the other direction.

COM13 is XBee Pro 900 Wire Antenna, XBP09-DM, FW8162

COM8 is XBee Pro 900 RPSMA, XBP09-DP, FW1161

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?  I was hesitant about flashing the firmware, but should they both be using the DP version?

Nigel, yes you should have same version on both of the modules. We are using XBP09-DP, ver. 1002 on our modules as it is one most sable firmware on those 900Mhz modules.

Try to reflash your modules and then try again them. Also do not put modules too close of each other when doing test, keep at least 1 meter distance between them.
