I purchased the 900Mhz APM telemetry kit along side with the APM1 board. My craft is ready and set up to fly but the only thing holding me back currently is the xbee won't connect in the APM planner.

Everything seems to be established between the ground tx and the rx on the copter and the RSSI LED turning on both so does the Rx and TX led blinking but still it won't connect.

The best I can get out of it is that the link is getting established and a window pops up saying "Getting Params.. (sysid 1 compid 1)". and it stays for a while before it says connection failed and when I click for details it mentions "your serial link isn't fast enough" along with other folder locations. After that if I try to re-establish a connection it doesn't connect at all.

I tried looking everywhere for a solution to this problem and I have yet to find one any help would be deeply appreciated.

  • Ya i am facing the same problem and i think its a firmware issue. One more thing i found is after hitting connect on mission planner if u press reset on the APM 1 then the telemetry is established. Help needed

  • Hi all

Everything was working perfectly (5 months ago) and started to not connect more! I see that is a recent problem!

Can anyone help and set the cause of the problem?

    Thanks

  • Step 1 is to ensure you really do have a good serial link and the modems are set properly. I think one aspect a lot of people do not understand is that Xbee is a modem at both ends, and they must have the correct parameters set such as data rate or it's never going to work. In order to do that, you must follow the wiki.

Step2 is to test that connection by using loopback at the remote Xbee (connect TX pin to RX pin on the Xbee shield). The x-ctu application even has a built in test just for this.

Then, when you know 100% you have a working serial radio link, then you connect to the APM.
