I've been thinking of this for a while, and I figured this was as good as any a place to pose this question:

Would it be possible to use an old WiFi enabled Android phone (such as the Motorola Droid 1, which has a 5MP video camera, digital compass, actual GPS, and a few other sensors built in) as a live video cam and OSD, and then cnnecting it to, say, a modified video-chat or live streaming app relaying down to the ground via WiFi or 3G?

What do you think it would be like in terms of latency, video quality, functionality etc? Would a 4g enabled phone be more effective?

Does this system have the potential, in the future, to be expanded to other sensors via the USB port? Give me some thoughts.
