Garmin GPS For APM?

A friend of mine gave me a module for GPS that is made by Garmin, it is a GPS15L-W and he uses it in radio equipment.

 

From the manual it looks like it can output NMEA data, I have it wired up but am not getting any data and have tried several Serial1
