Check out the following thread in RCG for this year.http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1175889YellowPlane will be there with a couple of Atto flown wings and we will also have the Falcon 8 and a quad.Perhaps its just the place, even though date and time has not been sorted for a DIYdrones get together as well??Who knows, as regulations have changed so that fitting a camera makes your airframe a UAS in the UK we might manage the biggest get together of flying UAS the UK has seen. Won't be hard! Its an international meet, we had a Frenchman and somebody from Herefordshire, that's nearly Wales oh and of course Mike came down from Scotland, further than the Frenchman! He will be bringing the wine!Heres the place to look for images from last years event.http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1075238Lots of fun, so sign up on the RCG thread if your interested. Don't tell them I sent you, I might be in trouble.G

Well, lets get as many DIYdrone types in the UK to come along to the meet as poss as a start. I don't think there are enough of us to try and form a separate meet, and besides you could'nt wish to meet a finer bunch of AP fools ;-)

Seriously the knowledge that was at last years meet was amazing.
  • Gary, Flying or Beer, Flying or Beer, Flying or Beer mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Terry tried to do a live feed last year but had 3 problems:-
    1) No 3G signal in the middle of a field
    2) No power supply
    3) No sensible people to talk on it!!!

A UK DIY Drones meet sounds good however these things take a lot of organising as too location and date.

Lets sort the party before a live feed, then we might not want the live feed. Would not want to get bogged down in red tape, if you watch the RCG thread you will see how the UKAP meet will come together, should be like that.

Perhaps the first thing is to mass as a country group!

Even if its for an evening get together for beer and bull.

Lets assume this and the RCG thread as the starting point for the first DIYdrones LIVE UK event ;-)

(events have to include flying not just beer, those can be called pub nights)

    Is that ok Richard??

my cents worth: I wish I can go some were and attend some thing decent. so here it is the way I see things
Calender >contact point for core group> contact points for subgroups> possible events and topic list for the events > feedback to finalize list and topics of interest, location > live demos and exhibition contest> conference/s and paper presentation > next years event host selection/ announcement > partyyyyyyyy and fun
    cheers

An events calender somewhere might be a start!! Then how about subgroups, DIYdrones UK , South Afrca, Utah (easiest to spell) or is that diluting things too much.

I would like the T3 rounds to be flown at DIYdrones LIVE events ;-)

We're having a small fly-in of the core ArduPilot dev team in the Bay Area this weekend (we don't want to gather too many people, since our field isn't very big), and I'll be organizing a bigger fly-in at Stanford University this summer.

I would love to see more regional fly-ins. What can we do to help facilitate that?
  • great video ...nice to see a solution there

Yep if its half as good this year, it will be fantastic, Gregg, looks like it might be in the Westcountry, so not too far from you. Of course we do require medical certificates at the border for Pompy types.
