3D Printed Quad Update

I finally had a bit of time to work on my quad project.  I think Im nearly finished with the top and bottom plate and I'm printing out the GoPro tilt mount as I type this.  The project is coming along and I'm excited to put it in the air soon.  Here are some Sketchup pics of my mockup file and the test fit model coming together.  Any suggestions on the components?  I am a little split on using a spare KK board, a DJI or a APM.

  • For those interested I have posted Sketchup files over at the 3D Printed Drone Parts Group

  • Very nice!

  • Here are the .stl files so far.  I put it up this morning.  It is still a work in progress.  With my work schedule I thought it would be better to get this published and let some other people tinker with it.  My progress is just moving slowly. If anyone finds and errors or problems with the files please let me know.  So far I haven't had any slicing problems in RepG.  My Thing

  • Really neat stuff. I have never messed with the 3D pritning thing - what sort of plastic is it? How flexible/strong?
  • Hi Mike, looks nice! What's your weight? I suspect you may face a problem there, though it'll probably still fly (just not as long). You may want to think of integrating simple composite structures (e.g. CF tubes for reinforcement + less material for the arms) to try to get the weight down.

  • Nice job it looks great....would love the CAD files if your willing to share :)

  • Yes the files would be awesome, one can even go as far as to ask the moderators to put it into the docs for those people who want to print their own.

  • Is there possibility that you can give me the CAD files, would love to print one of these.
