  • It is worst.

    There is no way it can work if I have well understood the LoRa standard.

    The Config tool shows a number of bps but in reality and due to time slots and duty cycle, the actual bps is like 10% of that.

    Anyway, empirical tests on my side give tons of lost packets and absolutely unusable link.

    It is a pity.

  • Mavlink protocol does not have a predefined air rate. It can be adjusted by requesting a particular refresh rate for a given type of data to the autopilot.

    I have tried with FSK and 9600 and it works awesome. However with the settings for LoRa above (I think it gave like 12kbps in the setup tool) it keeps loosing packets. 

    So either the LoRa Module is not providing the air rate that is listed in the tool or the way a packet is muxed and demuxed is affecting the Mission planner parser... Go figure...

  • What air rate have Mavlink protocol?

  • I have been testing different settings and there must be a problem with mavlink framing or how mission planner or Lora Module treat the incoming bytes.

    No combination of Lora settings gives a clean and 0% packet lost. Every configuration has some degree of packet losts.

    The best one so far is COM at 9600 and Lora at 7, 500khz, 4/8 and 96 bytes per payload.

    When tested in FSK is works perfectly with 0 errors. It is a pitty as FSK is less sensitive than LoRa modulation

  • I have had problems using LoRa modulation too.
    There must be some issue with mavlink packets. Hope to find the correct setting.

    Payload size setting could be clarified? Does the module wait for input buffer to reach payload size in order to actually send it to air?
  • There is no such a parameter as air rate in HM-TLRS-PCConfig. Are you talking about baud rate? 

  • What air rate have your software? Maybe you make buffer overflow. 

  • We have purchased a pair of these transmitters and so far pleased with it's performance.

    Advantages:

    - 433 MHz, it's very hard to find this frequency transmitters at the same price tag and range (apart from 3DR radios, which should have lower range).  

    - We didn't make proper range testing so far, but performance 200m away were flawless. Whereas our 3DR (not original, configured for better performance) were losing the signal completely at this distance. 

    - USB to UART converter inside

    - Fast shipping in EU

    Disadvantages:

    - Very poor instruction support from the shop. We had to ask them for the configuration software and find out by ourselves how to configure it there. I understand if seller for some reason doesn't want to share the configuration software for non-costumers. But I think it must be send to the buyer with at least short config instruction.

    - You need to solder if you want to switch configuration mode or USB/Serial link. Jumpers could be more convenient. Might be an advantage for some people.

    - LoRa modulation doesn't work properly so far (performance is not enough to establish connection with GCS). So we used it in FSK mode.

    - No RSSI or we didn't manage to find it.

    Also I would advice CSGshop to put more contacts or information about them on their website. At some point I though you were frauds due to the lack of information about your shop.
