A new OSD for FPV - PlayuavOSD

Hi,I want to share a new OSD - the PlayuavOSD. It is new but not totally unfamiliar. It is created by integrating a variety of excellent open-source projects. Many thanks to the developers for their efforts and dedication.

This project is licensed under CC 3.0 BY-SA and GUN v3. You can find all information about this OSD at http://www.github.com/Playuav/playuavosd, including the source code, the schematic diagram, and the configuration tools etc.

Inevitably there will be bugs and improper designs. But as an OSD, I don't think it will cause crash:-). Though most functions have been realized, there is still a lot to do, such as the implement of UAVTalk and DJI CAN. If you are interested in it, please share your opinions and suggestions. Thank you.

  • @Raphael, 5V from the FC has no problems. Some uses wish the OSD needs to be able to be powered by 2-4s lipo. Maybe we should do it in the next version.

    @HLiu,

1)There is an item "Load default params" in the file menu.

2)If the NTSC camera does not work, please post an issue at githbu. Your feedback would be much appreciated.

3)The idea of F16 HUD sounds exciting. We can do it in the future. Currently we should focus on the features and bug fix. Thank you for your suggestions.

  • Any plan to support F16 HUD ?

  • Please advice how to:

    -reset to factory default

    -change video mode to NTSC

    Thanks !

  • Thy for the fast answer, I will connect it directly to the pixhawk, so it should only get 5v, also the Storm-Gimbal only handels 5v in its TX/RX signal-connection, so this shouldn't be the problem.

Btw. I know (and hate) the MAX-chip, because 2 Minim-OSD's were killed by me, so I want a change.

How doe's the OSD handle its input-voltage, does it need to be smoothed out or can you connect 5V directly via the pixhawk ?

MinimOSD worked much better when connected to 12V .. until it blows out

  • Hi Raphael, the OSD can work with Telemetry using Y cable. I haven't tested it with storm32 Gimbal. There should be no problem. However, please do be careful with the voltage of OSD because the MAX7456 chip supply voltage is 4.75V-5.25V.

  • (I want to connect Telemetry, OSD and the storm32 Gimbal)

  • Can the osd be connecting in parallel to another telemetrie-device or does it need it's own telemetry port?

  •  @gasper kolenc
The current firmware supports APM/PIXHAWK, but is not compatible with other FCs yet.
  • A firmware for naze32 or other Clenflight boards will be available to?

    Thanks

  • @Pavel

Like minimOSD, PlayuavOSD receives flight data from FC via serial port. I have not yet tried mini APM or Pixhawk lite. But I guess there should be no problem as long as your FC uses official firmware. From our tests and other users’ feedback, PlayuavOSD works great with APM2.X and pixhawk.
