Very nice work Bill! I knew the T-hawk had vanes, but I assumed it was counter-rotating propellers using some kind of differential between the two.
Those servos sure are busy!
Interesting post.
The quad vane approach seems to be workable but how efficiently it can cover a distance horizontally remains to be seen. Much surface area makes for drag, from a moving horizontal perspective.
The unit in the trees looks tethered. Tethering a prototype is a good idea. Helps mitigate 'Ooops!' events.
