Firefly: interesting, but I still think it looks more like a modified Desert Hawk

  • Take a look at this one: http://www.theissaviation.com/NIRV.html

  • http://www.festo.com/cms/en_corp/11369.htm Looks like a modified version of this

  • "Fully Mission Capable."  Hmm?  Apparently it wasn't!  :)

    Good find, though, S.G.

  • This is just great--from now on I will look at circling hawks with suspicion, especially the fat ones.

  • The bird UAV and the Deserk Hawk have the same protrusion under the chin.  It is looking very much like a highly modified Desert Hawk.

At first I read the plane with the rudder on top, like a normal plane. This isn't the case. The rudder is mounted below the tail. That puts the large round camera hole on the bottom and the 4 other holes on the top, matching the desert hawk.

Surprised Gary didn't call it. Isn't that a Desert Hawk in the SUAS news logo banner?

Jason: Defense Tech agrees with you

It seems it's a modified Lockheed Martin Desert Hawk.

Here's a photo that clearly shows the same nose cone and aileron setup:

This is a foam winged plane so it would be a snap to modify.
