APM 2.5 for photogrammetry

Today I share with you my experience after four years of trial and error with APM, and managed to optimize my skywalker as UAV for photogrammetry, is a team of professional results for less than 4k USD, APM is a great platform for autopilot dornes developed for different applications at the beginning is a bit confusing and frustrating but then you start to see the benefits of this open source autopilot. georeferencing tools like pictures (control + F) is very useful for a good result.

my drone is equipped with:

skywalker 1900

motor : scorpion 1100

camera: samsumg nx200 lens 20mm

LRS : dragon link

radio : futaba 12fg

camera video : gopro3

modem: maxstream xt9

  • Your last mosaic have too much overlap problem.

i see some points where images not joint correctly.

  • hello all, try to answer all questions:
PhotoScan software is used, the camera does not fit gopro photogrammetry for this has a fisheye lens and generates distortion in the photos. gopro3 is just to make videos and photos oblique. the area in the photo is 1 km2, the flying height is 300 meters, the distance between flight lines are 150 meters for 4 lines were used photomosaic flight took 80 photos, but the photomosaic uses 40 photos.

  • crop monitoring, agriculture

  • Aerial mapping has all kinds of applications for monitoring, surveying, agriculture, land use management, submerged aquatic vegetation management, shoreline erosion / beach replinishment, disaster response, etc. Best done autonomously, and drones provide a big benefit ... potential for big cost reduction and real time (or more frequent) updates at much lower cost.

    good work JIM C.
  • Hi all

What's the big interest in mapping anyway ? Can you make money on this by selling aerial photos to Google or Bing ?? What other reason could there be for doing this ?

    Tommy

  • I wanna know too :-)

  • what method did you use to take the pictuers? did you automate the camera to take pictures every x meters?

  • Developer

Nice, can you tell us whats the area in the picture?

  • Nice mosaic, I will add to the above, what stitching software was used? Congrats, the hard work shows.

    Cheers,
