APM Oil Pan!

Is 2:22AM (when i started writing this) and i can't sleep, so i decided to write this post.

I been working "hard" and the fastest i can to finish this thing, theres only one step remaining in order to start the "mass" production of this board.

This is how the last step will be done:
-A unique assembled board will be shipped from California to Spain.
-Then Jose Julio in Spain will open his "Surprise Board" and make us the great favor to all of us of checking the board integrity and the harmony of all the components on it (thanks in advance JJ).
-That includes checking some new components i can't mention right now.
-If Jose Julio says 'Si", then i will start the mass production.

By now SparkFun is straggling trying to supply all the components and test bed for APM. It will be released soon.

The board is kinda of big right now. This board will be called the "huge" version. When the code becomes very mature i will create a an smaller version of the APM and APM Oil Pan without the multiplexor on the APM and without the bulky FTDI chip on the APM Oil Pan, so i can save 30% of the size. This one will be called ArduPilotMega "In my way" version. ;-)

Oil pan stands for the old shield name. The difference is that the shield goes into the bottom of the ArduPilotMega board.

I decided to let the community guess the rest of the specs for ArduPilotMega Oil Pan, because write stuff in English make me drowsy. The best guesser will receive a $50 certificate. ;-)

Come 2:56AM!!

Would be nice if everybody post a picture with arrow indicating the parts, that would be more convenient and easier to see for everybody. Some parts still missing, so everybody still have a chance..

    Hello Vicente,

Ops sorry i got lost, can you remake your "correct" list please?

-Jumpers (bottom-left) to monitor outputs, no multiplexor… Can you explain more about this... pls?
-No infrared sensors XYZ Horizon connector (bottom-right)
-I2C conector for pressure sensor (SCP1000) or magnetometer (HMC5843) (bottom), more details please.
-The left “strange” pads could serve to ppm encoder in order to monitor some radio inputs (flight mode). mhhh noup...
  • Another change:

    USB connector (top-left)
Infrared sensors XYZ Horizon connector (bottom-right)
I2C conector for pressure sensor (SCP1000) or magnetometer (HMC5843) (bottom)
The left “strange” pads could serve to ppm encoder in order to monitor some radio inputs (flight mode).
Sorry if mismatch but I don’t have APM board to check.

    Regards,
    Vicente A.
  • Flash Memory P# AT45DB161D 16Mbit flash IC (right of converter)
  • A couple of changes for my list:

Flash memory (ulog) (right of converter)
Jumpers (bottom-left) to monitor outputs, no multiplexor…

    Morli,

Your picture example is correct. the problem was the pressure sensor is huge, so i decided to put it "externally", also the LED's and the push button are outside for easy access.

    I forgot sorry:
    -No optocoupler or power MOSFET

You have a couple of weeks to guess out.. ;-)

Ok everybody is so close, but still missing a couple of parts, i will say no to the wrong guesses:

    -No a microphone Curtis, hehe

    -no Multiplexor (bottom-left)
-Yes and no a Probability of an SPI Magnetometer (right of Analog converter)
-no GPS Connector (bottom-right) because is already on the main board
-Serial port connector (top-left)?? Yes it has four serial connectors.

-analog temps input lower left, Excuse me??? temps?
    -No Current sensor center left
    - I2C compass port center (Charlie 1), close but is not for the compass. The compass will be external for interference reasons.

    Hints:
-One of the missing components was used by Sparkfun in a rocket.
-The rest of the missing components are already on my store, populated in other boards.
-The rest are switches of different kinds...

The person that list me all the active components (at least), will win, extra points for passive components guesses.

I2C external port lower right, USB mini upper left, analog temps input lower left, Current sensor center left, I2C compass port center (Charlie 1), 4 option switches lower left, IMU in center, SPI to ADC center top right, air pressure sensor top right.

May be this might help you guys , cheers :))
