APM Planner 2.0.8 release with Linux builds available

We now have a new update to APM Planner. The major achievement is we now have prebuilt linux builds avaiable for debian and Ubuntu flavours.

See http://ardupilot.com/downloads/?category=35

Functional features include log downloading over MAVLink (no need to go to the Terminal anymore) and .bin dataflash log file support. So if you have large files on an SD card you can just put the card in your computer and copy them before analysis.

There's also numerous bug fixes, thanks to all who have raised these issues to our attention.

Excellent Bill ! pre-builds were awaited a long. By by this time I have uninstalled ubuntu from my machine but I will try on my RPi. Do I need to take some extra care ?

Great Job Bill, thanks for the works and efforts. I'll try to install it in Ubuntu

Wow, Excellent!  Are you eventually going to support this through the Ubuntu packages system?

Can someone lay out a comparison between this and Mission Planner?

Thanks, the graphing seems to be much easier to use than MP.  I think I found a couple bugs (although I'm new):

The log files downloaded from an Iris (Win8.1) all have the same name:

The Standard Params page doesn't seem to be populating along with the full parameter list:

Thanks Wayne. It seems that not all log files are reported with a unique name. I'll add a fix.

@Paddles: if you like to that as blog post, that would be great. AP2 is across platform solution, MP runs on windows only, and has more features. We are catching up with that. If you have something you need added, please raise it on the support forum. Thx

@rana: the builds are for i386 and amd64 platforms. We don't have a RPi prebuilt yet.
