This project is like a smoothie of all my favorite things blended together.
An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is keeping track of a ground robot that leads a flock of similar robots. The UAV flies autonomously and uses its cameras to help the units moving in a defined formation, while communicating with the leader through an interfacing device.
It sounds so simple when you put it like that!

boy this sounds like a darpa funded project...did anyone come across project funding proposal...
thanks for sharing Chris, I should have checked HiTechnic's site before making any requests for sensors. It sounds like RoboCup Jr. is starting to enter the multi-robot communication between Lego NXT robots. Look forward to seeing new research or benchmarks about the performance.

I think its about time that someone makes a directional IR communication sensor for lego to enable multi-robot behaviors between NXT robots. The E-puck, R-one, Khepra , and SwarmBot are all consider multi-robot due to this capability. If NXT and Roombas want to move to multi-robot, they need to have fast directional communication between robots.
LOL. Fixed.
Chris. Are you checking for bliss "==" or saying that it is bliss? :)
