We use standard resistor-based transmitter. They are not heated internally but we try to keep them warm by storing them in the battery box during the beyond line-of-sight flight phase. We once had an issue in Antarctica where a 2.4GHz transmitter unit refused to operate at very low temperatures (don't remember the exact temp).

does the transmitter have internal heating?
