Good news!
The beauty of this community is on the collaboration. This new firmware proves it.
I have the pleasure of announcing that "ArduCAM OSD" and "MinimOSD-Extra" teams are now working together to make MinimOSD better and better.
I've been planning this fusion with Gábor Zóltan and Pedro Santos and we've started a nice friendship.
We spend the latest days merging and retouching everything to improve your experience with the new firmware. The Wiki was also updated for matching the new resources.
What's up?
You'll se all those awesome improvements from MinimOSD-Extra as well as improvements we made together.
The latest one is the new auto detection and updating of the EEPROM mapping .
From now on both OSD Firmware and ArduCAM OSD Config Tool will share the same internal signature.
So, both will detect the need for an EEPROM remapping preventing from loading or saving truncated data.
After a firmware upgrading the OSD Config Tool will detect an outdated mapping updating it automatically.
If you update your firmware by other way, the new firmware will alert you on screen and the Config Tool will repair automatically before you load anything from the EEPROM.
Update your MinimOSD right now. The most important: Have fun!
Important NOTES:
- After install the new "ArduCAM OSD Config Tool" remember that you need to update the Character Set. A new one is available on the install folder. From now on it will be always there as "OSD_Charset.mcm".
- Both sides of the MinimOSD need to be powered during a Character Set updating. Max7456's internal memory is really picky about voltage level during a charset update.

@Oliver: what channel are you using to change panels? Are you using the same switch which changes the flight-modes? (If yes:or not this isn't wrong, I'm just trying to figure out from where the problem comes)
Did you look at the troubleshooting wiki section? There you'll find the SR3_* instructions as well as the explanation on when and why you need those parameters.
At the moment, I am completely unable to utilize Panel 2 of ArduCAM 2.0. During the first 60secs switching panels brings up setup but toggling again briefly shows a glitchy panel that looks somewhat like the default panel 2 config showing Channel Raw and Tune data, except the characters are pushed around a bit. The OSD then quickly flicks back to panel 1. After the sixty seconds the same thing happens minus the config panel but only sometime will minimOSD even attempt to switch to panel 2, otherwise it does nothing. There does not seem to be an "off" panel 3 in the mix and no matter how I try to configure panel 2 I get the same result. Panel 1 works perfectly and shows exactly how I configure it via ArduCAM Config Tool.
I'm using MinimOSD v1.1 flashed with ArduCAM 2.0 and the latest characterset that comes with ArduCAM OSD Config v2.1.2.0. I updated to ArduCAM 2.0 immediately after receiving a minimOSD v1.1 board and have tried re-flashing the firmware and characterset 3 times, but the same issue has remained. Any help fixing this would be greatly appreciated.
Side note: I just noticed the wiki instructions for minimosd-extras indicates it is necessary to change a bunch of MAVLink parameters via Mission Planner for minimosd-extras to function properly => https://code.google.com/p/minimosd-extra/wiki/APM
Now that ArduCAM is merged with MinimOSD is it necessary to make these changes for ArduCAM v2.0? I do not see this mentioned on the ArduCAM wiki.
Of the indicated parameter, I have the following set to 0 which I believe is the default for each:
SR0_EXT_STAT,2
SR0_EXTRA1,15
SR0_EXTRA2,10
SR0_EXTRA3,3
SR0_POSITION,3
SR0_RAW_SENS,25
SR0_RC_CHAN,3
SR3_EXT_STAT,2
SR3_EXTRA1,15
SR3_EXTRA2,5
SR3_EXTRA3,3
SR3_RAW_SENS,25
@Philip and Robert: There is no way to disable individual warnings (yet).
To disable all them at same time we disable the "Warnings" panel.
@Robert: I'm checking on the "Overspeed" issue.
Hi Sandro,
Great project.
Great project. Glad to see the merger, save keeping track of two projects
I’ve a quick question; how do I switch off the warnings?
When I unselect the warnings option on both screens and save to the OSD, it still displays the Overspeed warning.
Also as Philipp asked how can I switch off individual warning?
while i'm at it, a second improvement: i really like the height change feedback from osd height change . i think it would be good, especially for fpv-quad-flyers.
great work, got it running (finally)!
just a quick question, i'm unable to get rid of the battery warning message, although i set the min. bat. level to 0.0v and the warning level to 0%. how can i disable just the battery warning and leave all other warnings like they are, do i have to dig into the source code?
and an emprovemend: how about power saving if nothing is overlayed until woken up by panel changing?
@Scott: Have fun!
It's being a pleasure work with them. Both are truly nice guys with great skills.
@Jani: We could do it... let's talk about. However, I'm leaning to keep the firmware in sync with the current board as it is. The truth is that with the awesome job from Gábor and Pedro the board was pushed almost to the limit. There is just really few space left and few resources for a safe margin.
In fact I'm minded to create a totally new one with a different concept on both software and hardware.
This is exciting news Sandro. I can't wait to get home and load up the minimOSD with the new firmware. Great to hear that you're teaming up with the Extra folks.
Sandro what you think if we make small hardware changes on board and expose few extra pins?
