You can download ArduPilot 2.4 + Ground Station Beta 2 from here.I didn't get feedback from the community in the unofficial release, so that means that maybe is working fine.. Please tell me if you spot any bug. ;-)What's new:-Altitude hold improved for my EasyStar.-Free running analogs for better performance.-Now compatible with ArduPilot Shield V2.-Minor bugs.- And more...Todo:-Cross Track Error-More testing.-New GroundStation.........Regards.
There is an option for manual control with stabilization. Its called "fly by wire" and you can implement it by disconnecting the GPS before powering up the Ardupilot.
@Mike, I know it's a lot of information spread across many pages easy to mis something, but together we know everything (almost) glad to help.
I did not notice a difference in tracking between the two versions however I tested the u-blox gps this weekend and certainly did notice the difference with the 1Hz gps, a much better response at waypoints:-)
@YW, in manual the stabilization is not present, in manual the processor is bypassed.
Would like to see an option for manual control with stabilization though.
Thanks for the reply. I have changed the codes to reflect ver 2.4.
Fly my Easy Star on ver 2.4 today. In term of pitch and roll the plane was stable on waypoint and RTL mode. However, I notice that speed dropped quite a bit after switching on to auto pilot. Anyone know how to increase the cruising speed?
Another problem that I had was that when I switch to waypoint mode, instead of going to WP1, its just head back to the home location. For RTL mode, it correctly head back to home location. Will verify again by checking the codes for mode change.
My last question is that in manual mode, does the Ardupilot helps to stabilize the plane? For my case, in manual mode is just like flying the plane without Ardupilot.
Mike, You can read back the version, if you monitor the serial port at power-up of the AP the version and the stored waypoints are printed. but....
@YW: Jordi forgot to change the version number in the program, if you have opened 2.4 in the IDE and you write to the AP and it say's uploading done you have 2.4 in the AP. And like Mike wrote keep them separate.
Tan, you cannot read back teh version you have loaded onto AP, but if you make sure that you keep 2.4 & 2.3.1 in seperate files, you cannot load teh wrong version.
I fell into this trap(trying to be clever) just keep both sets seperate.
right....1 what changes have you made to the tracking side of things? as with 2.3.1, shes quite direct, with 2.4 on teh same settings, it wants to go on a sight seeing tour...I have not tested the GPS Position in teh GS only ardustation.
Also the airspeed widget works as described in 2.4 where it wont in 2.3.1....
Jordi, if you get a sec can you explain the main differences between teh code so we know what we are looking at?
Also fitted Locosys LS20031 temp until ublox comes in....this seams less drifty, but can we set it up for 57600, not 38400? the GPS will handel it, can ardu? i can see the portion of code that relates, but has another number next to it that i cannot corrolate to anything.

Thanks for the answers.
I have sorted out most of the problems will continue with my flight trials again tomorrow.
Thanks you.
