Yeah, I don't get it. TC Canada wants all UAV operators to work towards being Compliant Operators, but what manufacturer or assembler is going to potentially open themselves up to liability by signing off on onerous certificates of compliance and conformity? (apparently DJI won't and the reputable company we deal with won't).
Interesting. What do you know about the blanket SFOC or airport? There is no mention in the article.
I do now know how they could have gotten a blanket SFOC? My understanding is under the new rules, you can't get a blanket unless you are a "Compliant Operator" and to be a CO, you would need a Certificate of Airworthiness from the manufacturer, which DJI won't do. (well, I don't think anybody will).

Thanks for the feedback.
I am a few house from the station I ask one of the guys they seem to have done a good job
playing it safe.
He told me they have a blanket sfoc and they call the airport tower of every flight and they
have a insurance for the uav.
A new local article tell the same.
"three operators from the fire department approved by Transport Canada, and each time the drone is flown, the Moncton airport is notified"
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-brunswick/drone-is-dieppe-fire-de...
The city is in the yqm Moncton airport zone.
TC says no flying close to 9k from a airport but then they this sfco says they can with
calling the tower.
