Welcome Nick to the show!
This week we tried to compare the Nova's max speed to the Raptor, however a radio Tx/Rx failure occurred during the Nova's takeoff, causing a massive crash that nearly destroyed the Nova. Never use a 5 year old cheap Tx/Rx on your handmade custom airplane.
We then tried to get a max airspeed for the Raptor, however our airspeed sensor continually gave suspect readings. We decided to go back to the drawing board to consider what we should do next.
A tough week, but it was a lot of fun having Nick on the show.
More to come!

Trent what servos you have been using on the nova?? Just to mention, If you do not have enough torque in your servos for such high speed, your control system will become unresponsive do to the lack of power of the servos to move the surface on such higher pressure. My recomendation for the raptor is that, if you are not using a servo capable of handling such pressure, dont go full throtle or you know what can happen..also seal the hinge lines with tape or transparent covering it is a great tool agains surface flutering.! By the way keep the good work coming!
Finding max speed would be something you do to destruction. Otherwise how would you know it's max.
Rather find the sweet spot for cruise. You might well end up with control surface flutter or some other flexing of the wing which will make things rather horrid.
Slow down, you move too fast, you've got to make the morning last
Ouch! Sometimes we hurry and make snap judgments to employ a solution or a component that in hindsight wasn't such a good idea. Kudos for publishing the results nonetheless!
Did the tape holding down the pitot tubes happen cover the small holes on the side the static tube? Perhaps that might explain the inconsistent readings.
Welcome Nick! Too bad about the Nova but I think it can be rebuilt.
The worst case would be a new wing for her (using a less lethal foam cutter...)
You boys are going to get chiggers looking for parts in those woods...
Thank you for the video - real life, real hobby.
