Crawl around our offices with Erle-Spider

As some of you may know, we’ve designed Erle-Spider to deliver an open, low cost and Linux-based robot powered by ROS that hopes to bring robotics to many. To show it to the world we’ve put together a little game. Here’s how it works:
Erle-Spider is crawling around our offices and life streaming video of what it sees at https://www.youtube.com/c/ErleRobotics/live. The robot can be moved around with the following commands actioned through Twitter:
@ErleRobotics make #erlespider go [forward | backwards | right | left]http://igg.me/at/erle-spider/x/7817776
For example if I were to move the Spider forward to meet part of the team behind it I'd go and tweet: "@ErleRobotics make #erlespider go forwardhttp://igg.me/at/erle-spider/x/7817776" (note that YouTube imposes about 30 seconds of delay on the video feed).
We'll be making this little game available in our office hours (CEST). If you're interested in getting one for Christmas go to our indiegogo campaign and support us.

  • Hi Victor,

I don't want to discuss with you in a place where you delete my messages, you know what you are doing and I know what you are doing too. You think that it is intelligent your position, well, good luck. But you don't say all the truth hahaah and you want to say that  I "license something that clearly was realeased byt someone else".

I don't want to make money with this, but I don't like people like you. Good luck with your 7$ servos, and your beaglebone with IMU's.

I understand that you don't want to discuss with me(it's obvius you only want to censure me) but I think that people want to know when other people lies.

Good luck with your project! All good for you will be good for me.

  • Hi Pando855,

I'm leaving here record of my answer to you since clearly your aim is to create damage (the previous comments have been removed). Truth to be told, I don't really know what's your aim by throwing incorrect information and lying. It sounds to me like the witespy case that happened a while ago. You've tried blackmailing us already through a few channels and I haven't answered you hoping that you'll understand that i don't want to loose time with folks like you. Here's what i think:

    • The Crab project was launched and announced by Ivan Biriuk (which you may not even know but is the guy that created the Crab project). We are in touch with Ivan and we are big fans of his work and even tried supporting it. This happened quite a while ago (2014) and several built on top. We did it and many labs did the same.
Just by looking at the code of your "Antdroid" and its dynamical model, I'd say you also did it. Having said that, if you still claim you've done it yourself,  you've made your first robot but reinvented the wheel when it comes to hexapods which to me, is quite foolish.
    • What's funny is that you've tried to license something that clearly was released by someone else and now you are seeking for similarities with other projects and trying to enforce them to release their sources. This is again foolish and you'll get people pissed (e.g.: me).
I'm sure you know little about open source because generally, and according to my experience, those that complain the most are the ones that understand the least. Erle Robotics hasn't built on top of anything produced by you and judging by your attitude, I doubt we ever will. You'll receive no further attention from my side.

    > Turn left

You see a row of office chairs, and a large table filled with what appears to be computers. On the floor in front of you there is a red ball and a stuffed toy dolphin.

    > Go to ball.

I don't know what 'Go to ball' means.

    > Forward

You walk forwards. The red ball is now covering almost your entire view. It's either a very big ball, or you being very low to the ground.

    > Kick ball

I don't know what 'Kick ball' means.

    > Kick red ball

I don't know what 'Kick red ball' means.

  • It moves for me. Chase the ball!

  • All right, the spider is back from lunch.

@Thorsten, yeah, sorry about that. Germany seems to be quite restrictive regarding some aspects https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2853834?hl=en. There're a few folks that managed to do it through a proxy. They may be hanging out in the chat of the life stream. Ask for "Christian Mock".

Unfortunately, I cannot watch the stream in Germany "due to rights issues"...

Cool.  I found I needed to fast forward on youtube or else I ended up looking at what the robot saw some time ago.

I've tried tweeting it but for some reason it doesn't seem to move.
