If you read the description of the product , you will notice that it is DIY replacement screen for 10.1"laptops that don't too well in direct sunlight/outside. As per the manufacturers , these have been tested in samsung and few other models of laptops as direct screen replacements(DIY).But the price of it is more than the laptop it self.
What you are looking for is DVR with display that could be used out side. This is in my wish list too. Portable DVD/CD player is what I have used so far how ever it lacks on board recording function. :(, looking for other solution right now. flavor spices cannot cost more than the chicken itself IMHO and so the replacement display mentioned above is not in my immediate plans. I tested a Compaq Mini 110 borrowed from a friend today. Time 10 AM, very bright and very windy condition.
It has 10.1" Led screen( which is suppose to do better outside) which I wanted to test outside under bright sunlight. Facing towards from Sun( with sun facing the screen) didn't do well but facing away from the sun , I was surprised , it was bearable/FPV flyable. When I tested it in back of my 4 WD under its shade , I was very happy with the screens performance'( with simple hood I don't see why I can't get this work for me), It costs around 250$ here and I am seriously thinking to get one with USB DVR. My HP TX1000 tablet with touch screen did not do well at all /pretty much useless under the same conditions. Hope this helps.
I'm a bit disappointed at the price. They kept saying that these cost no more to manufacture than conventional LCDs, and they're aiming to put them in $75 laptops. Guess that's the price you pay for early adoption though. Hopefully these will come down in price and we'll finally start seeing some tablets that come with one.

would be good for ruggedised GCS field use!
Nice one...
