Discussion started in the Netherlands

Discussion started in the Netherland because "Daan Sterk" made a clip with his drone above theme park Efteling. This 18 year old boy recorded with his drone, Efteling says, please before you record this ask us for permission. Government of the Netherlands says its strictly forbidden to fly above the crowd. But the 18 year old kid is not prosecuted for this action,

Another dutch guy (Henk van Boeijen from Nijkerk) was flying above a company on fire with his drone. On his YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/hevabo) he announced not to record further because off lawsuits.

  • Great video, but in this case, the mode of operation must be determined park services, responsible for the safety of visitors, imho. Not state law regulation,. but professional area control. No more.

  • Wow if I had a dime for every DIY drones blog post like this I would be super rich.

It seems this community dwells on the negative aspects of our hobby.

Hay post the one when the guy fly's over Manhattan and complain about that one again....

I frequently refer to this website as FPV buzz kill

I am amazed at this kids video he did a great job. I can only hope my videos inspired him to do such great things.

This website frankly its not a very welcoming community for sure diy drones seems more focused on argue legality and bickering amongst each other.
The admins seem to cherry pick blog posts and only approve negative post relating to the FPV hobby.

The biggest improvement DIY drones can have is to remove the admin approval process they are surely effecting the tone of this website in negative manner.

  • Most of flight was done when it was still closed. However the roller-coaster was done when crowds would be underneath the drone (I am Dutch and gone to the efteling a gazillion times).

Biggest issue why efteling would not like this in case someone crashes it into any of the attractions. Quite dangerous to have spinning blades near a roller-coaster with sensitive equipment. Even if it did not do any permanent damage, the attraction would have to be closed and a lot of time/effort/money would need to be spend to ensure the attraction is still safe to use.

  • Right under the lift of the roller coaster, if it's busy, there are people. I don't know if that day where people standing. Been there a lot, your right @Gerard Toonstra. The Dutch law says maximum flying above 300 meters is illegal. Think this kid is lucky because he get away with it.

  • ah.. I dont see ANY crowd at all ,I  don't see the issue here  maybe its just me?

  • "Flying over crowds".... What crowd?   I think what they get upset about is that he's flying above property without the owner's permission, an important rule if you want to get into this commercially. NL on the positive side is one of the first countries to relax aerial photography rules by the authorities. They know it's always been about espionage concerns there and with Google Earth and all, those laws have become completely irrelevant. So in short, you're more or less 'permitted' (oogluikend) to do aerial filming, but you have to act responsibly. In an area of fire you should expect helicopters to be around which makes this dangerous. Also in this film, he certainly was way above the 300 ft rule. (was it 300 or 400 in NL?).
