As is customary and traditional, we celebrate every new 1,000 members here and share the traffic stats. This time it's 28,000!

There were 1.4 million page views this month, tied for our record. It took us just 27 days to get this latest 1,000 members--we're averaging about one new member every 38 minutes.

Thanks as always to all the community members who make this growth possible, and especially the moderators who approve membership applications and blog posts and otherwise answer questions and keep things ticking here. We've got about 60 moderators now, but if anyone would like to join this group, please PM me. If you've been here for a while and have been participating, you'll fit in great.

  • I went in multi rotors last year with a Lotus T580 and promptly crashed it in less than 2 weeks. 2 Tricopters and 2 quads later all powered on the KKboards and the new KK2board. Always searching for a better way to shoot aerial videos, I decided to upgrade to something with more features and flexibility, I initially looked at dji's products but they were beyond my budget. Chris's online presentations on affordable drones got me intrigued and I was directed to this site. I'm glad I took the Arducopter APM2 route and also at the right time when both the hardware and software are mature. Congratulations on the growth of DIYdrones!

Dave: I'm afraid not. That would take months of work and would lose much of the content.

  • Any chance you will move away from Ning? The search function could be a little better, there is so much great content here it can be hard to filter through it all.
  • I chose the ArduPilot and ArduCopter in part because of the number of members willing to help.  Although I've been flying for just over a week, I read the blogs and forums at DIY for about a month before.  That reading helped me be prepared for most of the problems that have come my way.  Thanks to the members for a great site and thanks to Chris and who ever else thought of this project.

  • @Chris Anderson

I go for Thousand Copter powered by cold fusion ;)

  • Congratulations to us all, what a great community! By memebr number 1 000 000 it'll be a fully recyclable, eatable eco-copter powered by nothing but good intentions (which as we all know comes from chocolate pudding)

Maxime: By then it will be a holocopter ;-) But yes, we should plan some nice surprise for 50,000, 100,000 etc.

  • Will the 1 000 000 visitor win an arducopter ? :D
  • I always wonder how those "other" 25 visits came to be ...
