The DroidPlanner team, led by Arthur Benemann, is pleased to announce the next version of its Android-based UI. DroidPlanner 2.0 offers a completely redesigned interface for controlling 3DR multirotors over Mavlink. The UI/UX has been rethought with an emphasis on simplified workflows, glanceable information, and reliability for the most common user actions.
DroidPlanner 2.0 centers around two screens: Telemetry and Planning. The telemetry screen allows users to quickly assess the state of the aircraft and perform quick actions, like loiter and land. The planning screen allows users to create missions on the fly, as well as edit them easily in the field. Other features, particularly those different from the original DroidPlanner, are listed below. The DroidPlanner 2.0 UI was specifically targeted at multirotors, but full plane support and all the features of the original DroidPlanner are coming soon!
Features:
- Completely redesigned graphical user interface
- Specifically designed for 3DR multirotors and Iris
- New telemetry screen showing quick glanceable info: HUD, battery, RSSI, distance
- Easy to use Home, Land, and Loiter buttons
- New guided mode with changeable altitude
- Quick mode switching
- New planning screen for quick mission generation
- Easy and powerful mission editing tools
- Basic radio TX setup
- Preflight checklist
Coming soon:
- Survey tools in the mission planning screen
- FollowMe 2.0 with advanced control options
- New flight tuning screens
- Improved radio configuration
The app is still in a beta release, bugs can be reported on Github.

Paul Phillips: Check if you can open a usb flash drive via the android device. I think it's probably a USB driver problem in your device, as a bypass you could try to use one of the bluetooth<->telemetry boards that have show up around the forum.
i use the rctimer modems with success.
sumsong2s & nexus5
i did not have luck with fujy7" tablet.
When connected via USB OTG cable I get - MAVLink Error: No devices found.
I also tried going through TCP with the radio connected to my PC to no avail.
The Radio has a solid green LED. It works fine through Mission Planner on the PC. It's the RCTimer radio not the 3DR radio though. Should DroidPlanner work with this or do you think it's my phone? (HTC Desire X on Android 4.1.1)
Cheers, Paul.
ohh :)
ok ! thank you for this reply :)
i will wait for smartphone version.
@Guy: Ok, I see your problem. The problem is this first release is designed for tablets, phones will be added soon.
We have it solved at a development branch on github, and it should be merged and released in the next couple of days. Stay put for DPv2.2.x.

@Crady von Pawlak: Mostly because they had some safety issues, but they will be back in the future. I posted a more extensive response on G+.
Hi, I just installed DP2 -- great UI btw -- and noticed both ARM and RC are absent. Will they be returning soon?
I also posted this question in the Google DP forum -- sorry for the redundancy.
@Guy: Go to the menu (three dots on the top bar, or the physical menu button on your device (if it has such button) and click "send mission".
hhmm ... sorry for a dumb question ... but after drawing the line of WP .. how to i send it to APM ?
can't find the "send to apm" button .. :)
thanks.
