Was it "MobileAirships" (blimpguys.com) by any chance? They contacted me to see if I knew of any pilots in SA who could take on the gig for a large advertising client. They also put me in contact with some guy in Nigeria that wanted me to drop everything to go fly his airship for a soccer match kept getting calls at 2am. Anyway nothing came of it.....

Well nobody would have got a bung for the R44's would they?? I was asked to fly some large model airships with broadcast for the event but nothing came of it, or rather I guess I have not heard any more. Maybe somebody else got the gig.

Of course after this week everything will change and all will be sweetness and light!

Do not know if you saw this article regarding the SAPs not getting UAVs for 2010

Reading between the lines I would say that they concluded that they did not have the skills required to operate 10 small UAV systems.

I went into my local SAPs office while I was back recently you could not distinguish the cops from the criminals as it was "casual Friday"

Funnily enough one of the tasks in the to do list is to get something flying for a friend of mine who has a big cattle stealing problem from those very Basutu.

I have lost count of the number of plantations I have flown over, quite why the SAPs heli can't get rid of it all I could never know!!!

Was reported in the last AUVSI news letter....you could develop a fixed wing version to patrol for Basuto smugglers.
