Here the fuse halves are joined with masking tape and the inch and a half seam tape is applied to the bottom.

Landing gear being molded into the bottom and will be sanded smooth after resin sets. The long brush on top will be used to apply the seam tape to the inside top portion of the fuse.

  • 1 layer mat and two to three layers cloth. Way to heavy (not measured yet). but the 2700kv motor ought to handle it (I hope). Next version I'll try only two layers of cloth. All that was available at w*lm*rt is a very heavy cloth used to repair boats. Spent one day driving all over hell and back looking for lighter cloth, gel coat, and mold release. Second fuse layup has been sprayed with gelcoat/resin mix and waiting for cloth. This one is a test bed for hatch placement, wing saddle molding and recovering 25 year old glassing skills. (used to work for a deep sea diving helmets mfg). I designed the fuse to accept the stock Easystar parts, but I'm no B1 Bob.
  • OOOOHHHHH.... toughstar, I like that name. Haven't quite decided how the hatch will be held in place yet. Fit is so tight I have to pry it off. Thought of using super magnets, but they aren't secure enough.
