Firecracker

Have been flight testing this back to basics wing, very pleased with it so far.

If you want one ask Rob @ Flying Wings http://www.flyingwings.co.uk Very simple task, Canon IXUS 100IS for 15 minutes in the air.

Thats the IXUS at the front, this is only the second one we have built so its not covered and a little raw!!! But it flies very well. I'm out of the door to fly it again.

It will be part of the YellowPlane stable and I guess we originally thought of calling it Manta 4 as its the forth version of a flying wing UAV that we have made. During design it acquired the nickname prawn cracker (don't ask) and the original task request made a natural name change. No prizes for guessing the agency that wants one.

Yes its the Stryker! Easy to cut in ½ and use some strong coloplast for fuselage. Room for everything. It' made by Steve K from Canada.

  • Can you provide a direct link? I can't seem to find the Firecracker on that site. Looks like an excellent platform though!

I should add that I just suspended testing because the round Britain air race or some such started coming through!! It was great. But most of the aircraft were below 400', all ultralights and turning over the bridge just south of our house over the river Ouse. When I walked out to fly the BBMF flew through north to south as well, deep deep joy.

The split funjet, I think it is, is a smart way of doing it.

Our wing has been designed for a wide speed range, especially at the low end ;-)

The firecracker reminds me a little of this bird.

    Sweet looking bird Gary

At the moment I'm testing the Falcon wing. It's much easier than expected to handle and fly.
