AUVSI has released the very first issues of their magazine, Unmanned Systems, from 1982 (!!) for reading online or on your iPad. The tone was much more military in those days but otherwise it's interesting how little has changed (see below). It's free. Read it here.

Talking about the new old stuff... just look at this:
They definitely had some crazy ideas, in the age before the invention of the expanded tweet.
Downloading! wow nothing changed much in 30 years... I guess until recently things were quite harder to do, lack of CPU/Memory power and network grid / GPS not as great as today... Plus all the nice new sensors that came from the rapid evolution of the smart phones.
