The Pix2 should to my knowledge be the same as the original Pixhawk, but upgraded with more sensors and internal vibration dampening to improve accuracy. And since it is based on Pixhawk it is by definition open source/hardware, meaning the changes must be made public when used in a commercial project. Just give it some time.
The secondary 1ghz companion computer and "smart" software on the other hand does no appear to be open.
While there are no demo videos, there is an animated GIF on Gizmodo showing some pretty impressive waypoint flying, mere feet from human heads, using just GPS. Of course, it isn't a hit until there's a Kickstarter campaign.

Yes, Solo is certified to ship globally. There will be distribution centers in the EU, North America and Asia

Nice to see 3DR have also produced an RC Controller, can the Solo be shipped to the UK from the States or Canada?

Cheers.
Looking Good Chris,
This definitely a great leap.
Good luck to 3DR and the team, great job.
As member of DIY Drones for some time now, I do appreciate your contribution to the world of drones.
For me DIY Drones is 3DR and 3DR is DIY Drones.
Now for some maybe tough questions here:
* Seems like Pixhawk 2 is a new controller, is it based on Pixhawk 1 and will it be open sourced ?
* What software is running on the Solo is it ArduCopter ? Will it be published ?
* As most of data and published information found on other forum such as RCG and FB, is it implies some new business model ?
Once again,
I do appreciate all your work but questions must asked.
Thanks....
