Getting 6 Modes out of Channel 5 on a Spektrum DX7s

I know there are instructions for setting up a DX7 and a DX8 to get 6 modes out of channel 5, but the DX7s is a bit different from each of those other transmitters.  Here are screen shots of the 3 sets of changes you need to make to use the 2-way Gear and 3-way Flap switches to send 6 different modes down channel 5.

I hope those are legible, My screen is pretty scratched, and of course for the millionth time I wish the display was backlit.

    Just a minor update on where I am - I bought a Turnigy 9XR transmitter with FrSky radios.  I put OpenTx on it and have been totally blown away by how easy and intuitive it is with that to set up all kinds of switch options.  For anyone flying multicopters in more than 3 modes, OpenTx is really the cat's meow.  And FrSky is rock solid.  

    Now if only I could get OpenTx on a transmitter with the build quality and amazing customer service of Spektrum.

    Yeah. That's what I needed to know. Those settings along with the screenshots of the mixes did the trick. I'm up and running now with all flight modes on channel 5. Thanks for your help.

    Hi MegaFlare. I would like to get a copy of your .SPM file. Could you also please post a picture of your dx7s screen showing your system switch settings. This will show me which aux channels are set to the various switches on your transmitter. That in conjunction with your .SPM file should get me to where your at.     Actually what would be SUPER helpful is for someone who has this working to upload the configuration file. So if you could save the working model to the SD card, then upload that file to the source code server. Then we could download it ourselves and copy it our SD cards and insert that into our DX7s and we should be all set.

    If its too hard to get permission to post the file on the server, I would appreciate it greatly if someone could email it to me directly at mcorriel@yahoo.com Many thanks in advance.

    Scot, sorry I just discovered the Flap sitwch is mixed with the rudderDR/mix switch, not gear....... Now I'm confused....

     

    So in my case Gear channel has nothing to do with flight modes... Sorry for the confusion, there's been a while since I don;t fly this plane in particular.

    TRavel on my gear channel is: +85%

    -54%

    Travel on flap: +- 150%

    I have a DX7.

    Scott,

    Yes, I'm using Aux (flap witch) and gear channels.

    INput 8 (where flight modes should connect to) on APM is going to Aux 1 channel on spektrum receiver.

    I remember I had the same problem when setting tbhis up, same as you. I found after lots of research someone somewhere post that I should start with a fresh model in the memory. Don't copy the current model, just start a new one, but maybe start only with the flight modes. I did this and it was solved and still ignore the real reason but it worked.

    Then I manually copied the other settings...

    I'll post a pic of my mix settings anyway in a few minutes.

    I can share mine settings if you want, its slightly different. It actually gives 5 flight modes not 6.

    Do you hve a dx7?

    Just got it to work. the problem was that I had the Gear plugged into the 6th rather than the 5th position on the apm.
